Alpha 2.0 Changelog

Major Changes
  • Finished the equipment system and removed the placeholders from the previous version
  • Added displays for weapon stats to the GUI (shows attack strength, attack cooldown, and base attack range)
  • Modified hint/tutorial cards to keep the tutorial up to date
  • Allowed enemy units to move from the edge of the map towards the center of the player's fort
  • Added a 'Lives' counter as a temporary placeholder; when all lives are lost, the game ends.
  • Added four new weapon items (only ranged weapons have an attack script at the moment)
    • Heavy Rifle
    • Sword
    • Mace
    • Spear
Background Changes
  • Cleaned up a lot of spaghetti code
  • Reorganized variable storage
  • Fixed issues with enemy spawn code that weren't apparent until they were allowed to move
Bugs
  • The unit-selection box only works when dragging the mouse from top-left to bottom-right

Screenshots

Here are some screenshots of the updated GUI and modified fort.

This first one shows the changes to the fort itself. The equipment dispensers are no longer generated, and the center of the fort now contains a graphical indicator for the number of lives remaining. This is also displayed in number form next to the unit count.

In the second screenshot, you can see the new 'Items' tab, which takes the place of the equipment dispensers. Two item categories are defined, though no item types other than weapons have been implemented yet.


Units have also been edited slightly as well, with a portion of their GUI space used to show the stats of their currently-equipped weapon. The third  screenshotbelow shows revolver stats, the fourth (and last) shows assault rifle stats.
